Descrierea tematicii numarului special:
In the Incheon Declaration and Framework for Action for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 4 the main international organizations and global actors (UNESCO, UNICEF; ILO, World Bank and so forth) advanced education for peace, for social understanding as an intrinsec approach to ensure sustainable development. The multiple focars of tension and war challenge resignifing the meaning of education for democracy, for tolerance, for mutual understanding, for civic education, and social justice, so that education for peace becomes a transversal embedded issue in the formal, non-formal and informal curriculum.
In the last months, UNESCO launched a large consultation process so that the RECOMMENDATION CONCERNING EDUCATION FOR INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING, CO- OPERATION AND PEACE AND EDUCATION RELATING TO HUMAN RIGHTS AND FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS, adopted in 1975 is revised, and new emphasis is put on meanings and actions towards ensuring peace, as a prerequisite for sustainable development. The newly proposed title of the revised draft of the document soon to be adopted turns into: Recommendation on Education for Peace. for the promotion of international understanding, co-operation, human rights, fundamental freedoms and sustainable development through education.
Giving this trends, the special issue 2/2023 invites researchers, doctoral students, specialists in education to share their researches aiming to provide critical reflections, analysis, evicence-based solutions, meant to make education for peace and sustainable development more effective.
